ICFR visits MKGU for Breakfast Meeting

A group of ICFR (International Caravanning Fellowship of Rotarians) members and some of their partners visited the Milton Keynes Grand Union Rotary Club for breakfast on 9th September 2004. David Hatherall from MKGU (front row, pink tie) had organised the event for the group who camped at Emberton Park, which is between Milton Keynes and the picturesque market town of Olney.
ICFR was founded in 1967 and draws members from all parts of the United Kingdom. Among the guests were visitors from clubs in Scotland and more locally from Dunstable. Some of the members have just returned from an international event covering 2800 miles touring Denmark, Sweden and Finland. Other events have taken place in both USA and New Zealand, a truly international group.
David has organised a full programme of events for the group who will be visiting the Theatre this evening to see a production of "Kiss me Kate". The following day the group will be touring Bletchley Park. Walks have been organised for Saturday and Sunday including refreshment at various hostelries and the final dinner is at Cowpers Oak, Weston Underwood.
This event attracted 14 caravans and 29 members with their partners and they had taken over all of the touring pitches available at the park..

Such was the attendance at the breakfast meeting that an additional table had to be set at the last moment to cope with the overload.
Hopefully Alan Tranfield (left) and Colin Rodwell (right) did not feel too isolated from participating in the event.
Each member of ICFR gave a brief synopsis of their background and club details and clearly for many caravanning is a passion for which they devote much of their time. The camaraderie that existed amongst themselves was there for all to witness. |
