Pauline Goodman talks on "Colour your Responsibility"

MKGU Rotarian Pat White (right in the picture) kindly offered to be a model during a presentation given by Pauline Goodman on the subject of "Colour your Responsibility".

Pauline is a consultant with House of Colour which is a leading British Image Consultancy with many large corporate clients.

Choice of colour is an important aspect in connection with image according to Pauline. The presentation emphasised the need to discover each person's most appropriate and authoritative spectrum of colours for professional wear and this has a close link with a seasonal identifier.

"Projecting the 'right' image is important in creating a first impression and can result in the individual's confidence improving, enhanced personal self-esteem and improved inter-personal skills," according to Pauline.

The theories expounded in the presentation were based on the work of Bauhaus Professor Johannes Itten who believed that by expressing colours with reference to the seasons, winter spring, autumn and summer it is possible to develop harmonious colour combinations. These were shown in the form of a "colour wheel" which is just visible in the background of the picture above.

Identifying the optimum colour combination is based on the individual's complexion and this very much determines the best choice of clothing colours, accessories and in some cases facial make-up. For the professional person it is necessary to project an image by selecting the right shapes, styles, fabrics and character of clothes and accessories to create the professional appearance that is expected commensurate with the role.
